Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Cook / Commi to join the team at a Four-Star Hotel & Restaurant in Doha, Qatar. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a hotel or restaurant kitchen, with a focus on preparing buffet breakfasts and other culinary dishes. Key Responsibilities
- Food Preparation:
- Prepare daily buffet breakfast items such as eggs, bread, pastries, cereals, salads, and other continental or local dishes.
- Assist in preparing and cooking various menu items as instructed by the head chef or kitchen supervisor.
- Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to maintain consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
- Kitchen Operations:
- Keep your workstation organized and clean at all times.
- Ensure all food preparation areas are sanitized and adhere to the hotel’s health and safety standards.
- Properly store ingredients to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Help clean kitchen tools, equipment, and surfaces after each shift.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation, particularly during peak hours.
- Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff and assist with any additional kitchen tasks as needed.
- Quality Control:
- Ensure all food items meet the highest standards of taste, presentation, and hygiene.
- Monitor the quality of ingredients and report any substandard items.
- Keep track of cooking times and temperatures to avoid overcooking or undercooking.
- Buffet Breakfast Management:
- Prepare and replenish buffet breakfast items throughout service, ensuring food is attractively arranged.
- Adjust food preparation quantities based on guest numbers.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of work experience in hotel or restaurant kitchens, with specific experience in buffet-style meal preparation.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen organization.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
- Ability to collaborate with kitchen teams and follow directions from senior chefs.
- Language Skills:
- Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of Arabic or other languages is a plus.
- Nationality:
- This position is open to Asian nationals only.
- Education:
- While formal culinary education is not mandatory, a culinary arts certificate is an advantage.
